Quick Getaway!

Well, it happened, my birthday that I have been dreading came and went. But it sure was fun! Brian decided to whisk me off to Disneyland for a couple of days to help me remember that I'm still a kid! I think it showed my age more than my youth....I'm exhausted. The best part of the trip was no kids! The worst part of the trip was no kids! Boy, you think you'll be so good with spending if your children aren't around. Wrong! You spend more out of guilt of them not being there.

The first morning started out early, we were surprised that we were the first ones and only ones there! Then they informed us that the park opened later than we thought, and we were two hours early! Whoops! Luckily our hotel was across the street, so back we went to rest up for the heat, crowds, and walking that was coming our way.

It's fun to do this trip without children. You discover new things about the park. The thing we discovered the most was that we don't take very many pictures when the girls aren't with us. So here are a couple of the few pictures we took. We aren't as much fun to look at as the girls, sorry.

Mia Hamm

We got us a natural athlete! This child of mine has never played soccer, but she sure is good! Cambree decided to play fall soccer, and is going to give Mia Hamm a run for her money. She just needs to work on running, dribbling, kicking, and scoring; but she's well on her way. You know who's child she is when at her first practice she was told to practice dribbling, so she picked up the soccer ball and started to do a basketball dribble! She's AWESOME!!!!

Just looking at these pictures makes me want to yell and cheer!
Take it Cambree!!!!

I love how intent she looks in this picture.
This child is Focused!

This girl LOVES defense!
She has the greatest defensive stance.

Yea! That's right, Reds.
My girl has the ball!!!

Improvement!

Well, it came too fast! First day of school and I've seen vast improvement in Shayla's mother's misty eye condition. Maybe having it sneak up on you, maybe being overwhelmed with so many other activities, or maybe just pure exhaustion makes the misty eye factor better. Not that there was no misting up at all, it just that there were no out and out sobbing from the maternal end. (Come to think of it, there has never been crying of any sort from the school child, just pure joy and excitement to go to school.) I did realize, however, that Shayla's mom was the only mom standing in the vast hoards of children, with her child, while the other moms congregated in the back and watched from afar.

Here's the grown up Shayla, posing for the camera as usual.

Cambree can't stand to be with or without Shayla.

She dictates the picture taking process now.

The Last Hug!

Wait! What?!? 3rd grade?!? Ok, now I'm crying!!!

Nothing but joy exuding from this child!

The First Day of What?

Cambree is off to preschool! I can't believe it. I've tried to convince her that she doesn't want to go, but to no avail. She got to go last week to meet her teacher and see her classroom. She was just a little excited!

Miss Samantha is a lucky lady to work with Cambree.

Then way too quickly Monday morning came and she left. I miss her!!

So do her sisters!

The Day Finally Came!!

As Shayla said, "I've waiting a long time for today!" From the day Shayla was born we looked forward to the day she would be baptized. And on August 13th, it happened! She was so excited and the day turned out perfect!!!! We are so happy for her and the decision she made to be baptized and hope she will continue on the straight and narrow path throughout the rest of her life! Way to go, Shayla!!!

She even sang at her baptism to make it even more perfect!
(unfortunately the video won't download so you get this beautiful picture and will just have to come visit to see the video)

And a big Thank You to all the family and friends who took time from their busy Saturdays to join us. We missed those who couldn't make it. (photoshop yourselves in we knew you were there in spirit.)
